Effective date: September 23, 2026
Cowlitz Law Group PLLC (“the Firm,” “we,” or “us”) respects the privacy of everyone who visits cowlitzgroup.com. This policy explains what information the website collects, how we use it, who else may receive it, and the choices available to you. It applies only to this website and to the forms, links, and tools on it. Information you share with us after you become a client is governed by your engagement agreement and by our duties of confidentiality under the Washington Rules of Professional Conduct.
Using this website does not create an attorney-client relationship
Sending us a message, booking a consultation, or subscribing to updates does not make you our client. An attorney-client relationship begins only after a conflict-of-interest check and a signed engagement agreement. Until then, please do not send confidential or time-sensitive details about your matter through the website. A short description of what you need help with is enough for us to respond.
Information you give us
When you fill out a form on this site, we receive what you enter. Depending on the form, that may include your name, email address, telephone number, the payment method you used, and the contents of your message. If you subscribe to our updates, we receive your email address. If you book a consultation, the booking page is operated by Clio, our practice-management provider, and the details you enter there go to Clio on our behalf. If you pay an invoice or an advanced fee deposit, the payment is processed through Clio’s payment service. Card and bank details are entered on Clio’s system and are not collected or stored by this website.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, this site records certain technical information when you visit. That can include your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the site that referred you, and the date and time of your visit. We use Google Analytics, through Google’s Site Kit, to understand how visitors use the site. We also use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which reports visits and page views to Meta so we can measure and improve our advertising. These tools rely on cookies and similar technologies. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs for security and performance purposes. If you use the translation menu, the text of the page is processed by a third-party translation service.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to respond to your inquiry, schedule consultations, run conflict checks, process and record payments, send updates you have asked to receive, keep the website secure and working properly, understand which pages are helpful, and measure the reach of our advertising. We do not sell your personal information.
Who may receive information
We share information only as needed to run the Firm and this website. The companies that support us include Clio (consultation booking, client management, and payments), Google (analytics and site tools), Meta (advertising measurement), Mailchimp (email updates), and our website hosting and backup providers. Each receives only what it needs to provide its service. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of the Firm or others, or as permitted by the Rules of Professional Conduct. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes.
Please be aware that Google and Meta may collect information about your online activity over time and across different websites, including this one, through the cookies and pixels described above.
Cookies and your choices
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most of the site will still work if you do. Google offers a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and you can manage how Meta uses your information for advertising through your Facebook or Instagram ad settings.
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common industry standard for honoring that signal, and this website does not currently change its behavior when it receives one. The cookie controls described above remain available to you.
How long we keep information
Inquiries from people who do not become clients are kept for no more than 12 months, unless we need them longer to document a conflict check or meet a legal obligation. Once you become a client, your information becomes part of your client file and is kept as our professional obligations require. Trust account records, for example, must be kept for at least seven years under Washington RPC 1.15B. Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings of the service that collects it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we receive, and this site is served over an encrypted connection. No method of sending or storing information over the internet is completely secure, however, which is one more reason to keep sensitive details out of website forms until you have spoken with us.
Reviewing, correcting, or deleting your information
You may ask to see the personal information you submitted through this website, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@cowlitzgroup.com with your request, and we will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to confirm your identity first. We may keep information we are required to retain by law or by the Rules of Professional Conduct. You can stop receiving our email updates at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any message.
Children
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through the site, please contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other websites
This site links to other websites, including Clio, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and Google Maps. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them. We encourage you to read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page and change the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also note it on the home page for a reasonable period.
